What you need to do before your spray tan
A spray tan is the perfect thing you need to achieve that beautiful and even golden glow. But before you jump in, here are some of the key things you need to do before getting a tan for the best results…
Remove unwanted hair
Tanning solution can cling to hairs on your body, creating a dotty and uneven finish.
So, if there are any unwanted hairs on your body, it’s best to remove them at least 24 hours before your tan. Ideally, you should wax the hair as this can last up to a month, ensuring that it won't interfere with your tan!
1. Exfoliate
For a smooth tan, you need a smooth base to work with. So, the night before your tan you should exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells and reveal the soft, fresh layer of skin underneath. Make sure you pay close attention to your elbows, ankles and collarbones!
2. Moisturise
Keep your skin healthy and happy. After a deep exfoliation, you need to moisturise and bring some nourishment back into it!
3. Go make-up free
Even if you’re heading to the salon straight after work, you need to come fresh-faced! Make sure you clear your makeup before you head in, as foundation and other products can prevent you from getting an even coverage.
4. Apply nail polish
The last thing you need after a spray tan is for the solution to stain your nail bed and cuticles. Although your therapist will apply a protective barrier cream to your nails, it’s always a good idea to varnish them before entering for that extra layer of protection.
5. Avoid perfumes and deodorant
Did you know that some of the chemicals found in perfumes and deodorants can prevent fake tan from smoothly adhering to your skin? So, to be sure of the best results you should try to make time to shower all the dirt and products off your skin before you enter.
And voila! You’re ready for a gorgeous and even tan. Just remember to tie your hear back and bring loose, baggy clothing for the journey home!
