How long before the big day should I get my spray tan?
Many brides choose to get a spray tan for the big day. One of the biggest questions that crops up is exactly how long before your special day should you get your spray tan? This varies depending on your level of experience with spray tanning, your natural skin tone, and whether or not it is the first time you ever had a spray tan.
For first timers…
Getting a spray tan is quite the experience. It's a brilliant way to add a little colour and a healthy glow to your skin. On your wedding day this is particularly important. There are a lot of stresses and worries in the run-up to the big day. If you've never had a fake tan, or spray tan before, it's highly advisable to do a practice run, several weeks (or even months) before the big day. This will ensure you are familiar with the process, happy with the results, and have time to consider what your chosen shade of spray tan will look like with your wedding dress and colour palette. Most importantly, it will allow you to check you don't have an adverse reaction to the spray tanning formula (which is unlikely, but not impossible), and you are comfortable having a spray tan done.
Spray tanning is a very effective means of gaining a fake tan, however it requires you to essentially get naked with a stranger. If this is a new experience for you, it may not be something you want to try for the first time when you're already nervous in the run-up to your wedding. Getting a spray tan a time or two beforehand will ensure it is a relaxing experience, that adds to your magical wedding adventure, rather than something else to stress about.
When to get it your spray tan done…
Generally speaking, it's best to aim to get your spray tan done 48 hours before your big day. This will allow your tan time to properly settle, ensuring any orange overtones that initially occur have disappeared, and any unexpected issues can be rectified without causing too much panic. Getting it further ahead than this may result in your tan fading before the big day. If, however, you are happy to get a slightly darker tone, allowing it to fade off a little will allow the shade to naturalise, and appear smooth and even.
