A fabulous spray tan is the best way to ensure a golden glow on your whole body all year round. There's nothing better than a gorgeous sun-kissed spray tan, and you'll often find yourself wishing it lasted longer than a week. Forget orange, streaky tans, at My Tan London we only use the highest quality spray tan solutions and equipment. A great spray tan can last for longer than you think if you know how to look after it properly. These simple spray tanning aftercare steps ensure your healthy glow continues and your skin stays in great condition too.

Don't wash straight away

It's best to avoid having a shower or bath for at least 8 hours after your spray tan. Some tanning professionals recommend waiting for more than 12 hours. Though your tan may feel dry, it is important to allow your tan enough time to develop before contact with water, which could cause running or streaking.

Keep moisturising

It's important to make sure your skin stays healthy after a spray tan, and a great moisturiser can help a tan last far longer. Moisturise your body 2-3 times a day for soft, glowing skin. You can also find tan-extending moisturisers, which are designed to help maintain your spray tan for longer.

Exfoliate before your tan

Another great way to extend your spray tan is to make sure you are thoroughly prepared beforehand, so your skin is in the best condition on the day of your spray tan. Exfoliating before a spray tan removes any dead skin and any products that may have lingered on your skin. Don't put anything on your skin before your spray tan, even deodorant, lotion and moisturiser can interfere with how well the tan takes. The better the tan, the longer it will last.

Drink more water

Healthy, hydrated skin is essential to making your spray tan last for longer. When you haven't drunk enough water, you may notice your skin peeling or flaking, which is disastrous for a new tan! Try and drink 8-10 glasses of water a day - it's great for your health too!
