Whatever the occasion, if you're decided to get a spray tan, you'll want to ensure your skin comes out looking as glowing and radiant as possible after your session. There are some pre-tan steps you can take to prep your skin to ensure you get the most out of your spray tan. Below we've listed out our top tips for prepping for the best tan of your life.

Exfoliate

You've probably heard this a million times, but it's such an important part of getting the perfect tan. Exfoliating your skin using a gentle natural exfoliator and exfoliating glove will remove dry skin and imperfections, meaning that your tan can be applied more evenly and will last longer when applied to the newer skin.

Plan ahead

If you're going to shave or wax, make sure you do it at least 24 hours before your tan, and use a rich moisturiser afterwards to rehydrate the skin. Ideally, you should be aiming to wax 48 hours before your tan to give your pores chance to fully close before the tan is applied.

Moisturise

Try to moisturise the night before your spray tan all over your body to ensure your skin is hydrated as much as possible before you have your tan applied. Hydrated skin which has been moisturised will create the perfect, smooth base for your tan. It will also add to the natural glow of your skin, making it look extra healthy and golden.

Last minute musts

Before you go to your tan appointment, be sure to rinse off all deodorants, body sprays and perfumes so that the tan doesn't clash with the chemicals already on your skin. You must tie long hair up and use a stretchy headband to scrape back any wispy strands of hair that could get stuck to your tan. Wear loose fitting clothes to your appointment and opt for darker colours.

To avoid having a spray tan that contains nasty chemicals which are bad for your skin, book an appointment with My Tan London today, making sure you've followed all our top tips to prep yourself for that perfect tan.
